Urban Group receives 38 Certificates of Appreciation by supporting Glass Bottle Recycling Project

Urban Property Management Limited (‘UPML’), a member of of Urban Group, and 37 properties under its management, received 38 Certificates of Appreciation for their active participation and contribution to the Hong Chi Jockey Club Glass Bottle Recycling Project.

“We have been supporting the Hong Chi Jockey Club Glass Bottle Recycling Project for 7 years. Over 61 tonnes of glass bottles were collected for recycling between 2016 and 2018 through this Project. We deliberately offer our help to the underprivileged in the society and coordinate with the members of the Hong Chi Association to build a greener community,” Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group remarked.

“After rinsing the collected glass bottles, the Hong Chi Association members would send them to a recycling plant to transform them into eco-bricks, which may help relieving the pressure on the land-fills. This Project can not only protect the environment, but also create training and job opportunities to the 450 Hong Chi Association members, encouraging disability inclusion,” Dr Edmond Cheng added.

Hong Chi Association and the Environmental Protection Department had jointly launched the Hong Chi Jockey Club Glass Bottle Recycling Project since 2010, aiming at enhance the public participation in waste reduction and provide training and job opportunities for the intellectually challenged. Over 6,062 tonnes of used glass bottles were collected and sent to a local construction plant for recycling into eco-bricks.
