City One Shatin (CIS) under the service of Urban Group recently received the Hanson Outstanding Award in the residential estate category of the Energy Saving Championship Scheme 2017.
The estate management office of CIS has invested huge efforts in saving energy. The electricity consumption of CIS decreased by 12.5% in 2017 after replacing all the corridor lighting with LED illuminating systems which helped save HK$1.5 million. The estate management office has also advocated energy saving through various activities and experience sharing promotions for their residents.
Moreover, Urban Group received an appreciation certificate for participating in the Energy Saving Charter in the same event. This Charter aims to encourage business and community organizations to save energy and act as a role model for corporate social responsibility thereby contributing to sustainable development of the society.
The Energy Saving Championship Scheme is organized by the Environment Bureau and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department to recognise organisations which have introduced energy efficient technologies and equipment, applied operational optimisation for energy consuming systems, developed best practices in energy management, promoted energy saving among stakeholders and set up energy saving targets.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group remarked, “We have been supporting the Energy Saving Charter for 5 consecutive years. Urban Group pledges to maintain an average indoor temperature between 24-26°C during the summer months, switch off unnecessary electrical appliances and systems, as well as procure energy efficient electrical devices.”
City One Shatin is under Urban Group’s management since its completion in 1981. City One Shatin always strives to promote environmental protection. The estate has been participating in various green care activities organized by the Government and the non-profit organisations such as Source Separation Campaign, Wastewi$e Label and Energywi$e Label. City One Shatin will continue to join hand with stakeholders to strive for a sustainable living environment.
